Dominican Commercial Name Registration Decree 260-18

Dominican Commercial Name Registration is governed by Executive Decree 260-18  amending articles 65 and 66 of Decree Regulation 599-01 of Dominican Intellectual Property Law 20-00 of May 10, 2000 for the purpose of making more efficient some government procedures and optimizing the country’s institutional regulatory scheme.

Through this amendment, the registrability of distinctive signs such as commercial names registration is reduced to one (1) work day, while establishing the mandatory filing of applications for registration of distinctive signs through the Dominican Republic intellectual property electronic filing platform, administered by the Dominican Trademark Office.
