Energy & Mining Law 100-13

Dominican Republic Energy and Mining Ministry was created under Law 100-13 of 2013 as organ of the Public Administration dependent of the Executive Power, in charge of formulating and managing the energy and the metallic and non metallic Dominican mining policy.

The Law establishes that the Ministry of Energy and Mining, in its capacity as management organ, is in charge of the formulation, adoption, follow up, evaluation and control of the policies, strategies, general plans, programs projects, services related to the energy sector and its sub sectors of electric energy, renewable energy, nuclear energy, natural gas and the mining, as well as exercise the administrative authority and oversight of all the autonomous and decentralized organs related to its sector.

Finally, the Law Creating the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Dominican Republic establishes that such Ministry shall manage the Special Fund created under Law 112-00 establishing a Tax on the Consumption of Fossil Fuels and Petroleum Derived Products.
