For more than twenty years, Dr. Castillo has represented national and international clients in their commercial operations and corporate, financial and international transactions with potential impact in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Castillo advises in business start ups, acquisition, merger and reorganization processes, due diligence processes, agency, distribution, franchise and representation contracts, obtainment of government licenses and authorizations, installation of free zones, commercial leases and the purchase of real estate property and their financing.
Dr. Castillo has been an attorney and of counsel in the areas of business law, litigation and government in Dominican Republic and international law firms as well as in the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC.
He previously served as chief legal counsel for Siemens in the coordination and execution of corporate, contractual, government matters and legal and financial aspects of Infrastructure projects in Dominican Republic. Reporting on key aspects of Dominican Law, Business and Government. private due diligence investigations and compliance law.
He advises on foreign investment matters and the installation of new business in the commercial, tourism and the industrial and services free zones sectors, commercial contracts, including distribution and representation under dealer regime Law 173. Also advises on commercial cross border insolvency and restructuring matters.
Ongoing representation of world leader in the design and marketing of premium-quality outdoor footwear, apparel and accessories in the merger with an offshore subsidiary and restructuring of DR Free Zone operations.
Representation for the acquisition of a chain of hotels in the Dominican Republic, which included a due diligence report on the following areas: i) Corporate; ii) Labor; iii) Contractual, iv) Financial; v) Insurance; vi) Real State; vii) Administrative/Environmental; viii) Intellectual Property; and iv) Litigation.
Assistance to international engineering company in draft and review of contracts and agreements related to construction and public concessions regarding the electro mechanic work in large transportation and energy infrastructure project.
Assistance to the Ministry of Tourism of the DR with respect to new framework for tourism legislation in Dominican Republic.
